Our History

Danna and Jennifer started the company in 1999 when they opened the first Milk Money store in Maplewood, NJ – with the goal of creating a workplace that would enable them to contribute to their families’ income while also raising their own young kids. Their commitment included providing a warm and welcoming resource for local families, as well as doing their part to help the environment by reusing and recycling perfectly good but outgrown children's apparel, toys and gear.

Within months, the families of Maplewood were hooked on Milk Money. And now, for more than a decade, Milk Money has been heralded as a local favorite – and a haven where conservation, creativity and community shine through.

In 2005 the business expanded by franchising – and has since grown to include six franchise locations in NJ, NY, and (in 2010) PA.  Kim, a former franchisee who shares the same passion for all that Milk Money stands for, came on board as a franchisor in 2008.

Unique Experience is an adventure of the heart, a leap of faith and a true collaboration. The partnership – and the entire Milk Money network – benefits tremendously from a shared sense of purpose and participation. 

A little bit about shopping at Milk Money....

We at Milk Money strive to make your shopping experience as simple and enjoyable as possible.

Our stores are well-organized -- items are clearly sorted by age and gender - and our racks are brimming with great bargains. Clothes and accessories range from the bare necessities to eclectic treasures... and from vintage collectibles to outfits that are brand new with retail tags!

If there is any particular item or brand you are interested in, we offer custom "wish lists." Just provide us with your name, your contact info and your wish,and we will call you if and when it enters one of our stores! Because we know that it can be difficult to estimate whether kids clothing will fit properly or look just right, we do offer a return policy. Clothing may be exchanged within two weeks of purchase; the price tag must still be attached. If an item has since been marked down, you will be credited the sale price. Please note, items purchased during seasonal clearance are final sale, and can not be returned. Similarly, all books, toys, and videos are final sale.

Most important of all, there is one golden rule of shopping at Milk Money...NO HAGGLING ON PRICES, PLEASE!!  We think our prices are beyond fair...just shop around and you will agree!
